Green Energy Project

SEA-DISC students, while learning about energy consumption and conservation, are given a choice of what kind of project they would like to carry out. Choices vary from "greening" a business, to educating schools about energy conservation. A green business is a business building (or school) that operates in an environmentally friendly manner and works to conserve energy usage. Not only does it save them money, but also it works to help the environment. Students then make a public PowerPoint presentation about their experience. Alongside this part of the project, students also monitor their own energy consumption at home, using UC Berkeley's Energy Saver Website. From this, students learn how very little changes can make big differences in home energy and electricity costs.

SEA-DISC has made Drake High School the first Green School in the world, saving Drake High School $12,000 a year.
