Where the water meets the land are tide pools filled with many organisms. Tide pools are unique nurseries for many babies of the sea. High school students are helping the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary by monitoring the abundance and biodiversity of tide pool organisms near their schools. SEA-DISC students have been monitoring Limantour Beach for five years for sand crab populations. We help with the important research of the tidepools for the FNMS. After we go to the beach and research tidepools, our results are published at http://www.limpetsmonitoring.org. It helps their organization count population fluctuations, and monitor them. We then write a research paper on the different conditions we saw and how they apply to the rate of biodiversity in the different ecosystems.
